1987 Honda Accord

The left outer CV boot is torn, and the CV joint has started making noises. The car is so old I don’t want to replace the axle, so I’m going the cheap route, and going to install a split type boot myself. Hopefully it will prolong the life of the joint. Since I’m only expecting two years of life from the car, I think the joint has potential. I searched, and searched and searched and couldn’t find a place that sold a split type boot. Then finally I found JC Whitney and they have the boot so I ordered it. Should be here later this week. I also got a crimp tool and some connectors to rewire the radio. The wires were previously just twisted together and then wrapped with electrical tape. So the volume from the speakers would change, or the balance shift every time I did something like, start, stop, turn, accelerate, brake, hit a bump, change the volume, turn on the headlights. Hopefully I’ve cured that problem.

So far I’m getting 34 miles per gallon. A far cry from my old Civic’s 45 MPG, but it’s still considerably better than a lot of cars on the road today.
